It has been way too long since my last entry. There’s lots of interesting things going on in my life. First off, I’ve started using a new keyboard, the Virtually Indistructible Keyboard. I find it quite pleasant to use, the keys have a good feel, and the fact that it’s washable is very, very nice, especially since my flat-panel iMac is currently in my kitchen. I did run into one problem though. There are 2 versions, the USB version, and the PS2 version. At work I’ve got the USB version, and at home I’m using the PS2 version with a USB adaptor. The PS2 version works flawlessly, but I’m getting occassionally repeated characters from the USB version. I’m not sure if it’s the keyboard, the USB port, or what, but I’m going to be exchanging it most definately for the PS2 version.

The other is some pretty big news! I have a kitten! His name is Stark, and he’s 11 weeks old. I went with my friends Hollie and Greg (who arranged the adoption), and picked him up this past Sunday. He’s completely adorable. He’s still a bit skittish about my apartment though, jumping and being scared of every little noise. Thankfully, his momma took care of litter training him. I’m thinking about maybe training him to use the toilet.

Let’s see… what else is there to talk about. Hrm. My birthday is coming up on June 30th, I’m going out with my parents the friday before, and to a big outdoor home brewer’s party the night before, so I’m probably not going to be much fun on my birthday actually *smile*. WarCraft III is coming out on July 3rd! (I’m taking July 5th off so I can have a 4 day weekend to play. I love the WarCraft fanchise, and this game is gonna rock!) July 14-16th I’m going to Atlanta for work, and August 15th-20th to Ottawa to visit friends.

After almost a year of using Earthlink/Omnisky wireless on my Handspring Prism, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s really not worth the money. At $39.95/month, it’s a waste of cash for me. I couldn’t see having it unless work payed for it. I just discovered this week that I can use a real web browser with it, but only through Earthlink’s proxy server, which munges .prc and .pdb files, so I can’t install software/documents over the www. This capability is essential, IMHO. I’ve never used it once to buy anything, I can’t check my bank account online (frames, dhtml, javascript required of course). About the best I can do is check one or two wireless specific news/content sites. It really isn’t worth it. Plus when you only have an availabe balance of $3.50 until next payday, it really doesn’t make sense financially.

I was very sad last summer when the last small live music venue, Twisters, closed down. Now, when I say last small live music venue, what I mean is that, while a lot of other places have a band 1 or 2 nights a week, this place had live music almost every night. And that was the whole reason people went. It was one of the few places in the Richmond area a band could play their first gig, or their 15,000. Hell, I saw the Misfits there. Thankfully, the place was bought, and the former bartender is running the show! There’s a whole article about it, on richmond.com even.
